Early TRADITIONAL Christmas Lights on Oxford Street, Bond Street and Regent Street are turned on for Christmas period
4-26 HISTORICAL Ghost Tours around the Tower of London, from 7pm
6 RUGBY UNION World Cup final, Cardiff
10 TRADITIONAL Remembrance Day service and parade. At the Cenotaph in Whitehall, led by HM The Queen, the nation remembers those who have died in two World Wars and the more recent conflicts. In mid-November or at the start of a new government's term, the Sovereign travels in the Irish State Coach along the Mall and Horse Guards to Parliament. Procession leaves Buckingham Palace around 10.40am, preceded by carriage carrying State Crown. Arrives Parliament 11am
13 RACING Murphy's Gold Cup, Cheltenham
14 TRADITIONAL Lord Mayor's Show. Historic procession (originating 1422) through City of London on the second Saturday in November, starting 11am. The newly elected Lord Mayor travels from Guildhall to the Law Courts in the Strand in his State coach drawn by Shire horses, escorted by pikemen and musketeers. Colourful floats, bands, etc, representing city companies, industry, commerce, youth enliven the proceedings
