Sun & Sand Holiday Resort lies on a 22-acre site on the southern shores of Lake Malawi, some 24 kilometres between Mangochi Township and Cape Maclear. The resort boasts 57 rooms and ten family chalets. Two hundred and forty beds are available in single, double and triple-bed chalets, bungalows and rondavel units. Sun & Sand has excellent tree cover, something which comes in handy on a hot day. One can sit on the sand by the lake under the breezy shade of a natural tree - not in the artificial shade of an umbrella.

The La Mirage à la carte restaurant and adjoining Bellevue cocktail bar cater for discerning tastes. There is an Olympic-size swimming pool with a twin pool for juniors, while other outdoor recreation will be available in the near future in the form of sailboats, lake cruises, tennis and squash. Evening entertainment will come from satellite television, a video lounge and a dance hall. Specially invited traditional dancers usually grace the resort.
